The Mural Is Done!

In the spring I talked about how I wanted to redo my bedroom. Well guess what? I finished my mural today! The title of this blog didn't give that one away did it? Oh well... I'm just so excited! It really is the focal point of my room, so it has to shine!

Yes the cell phone picture sucks, but this is the BEFORE picture.... I think it can suck. My room was red and brown, white black and white photos. Hectic, busy, dark, and cluttered. The collage above my bed I made back in high school. I was just tired of it.

My room has one window. ONE! It was so dark in there and the paint color did not help. I had to brighten it up.

This tree I hand sketched from looking at other tree pictures. I wanted it to seem like wind may be going through it.

I got so into the painting I forgot to take more in between pictures. Here the petals are already on the tree.

I used these as my stencils. This is plexi-glass from those cheap poster frames. I was lucky that my mom had the random tool of a stencil cutter. Really? I don't think it has ever been used before. Well good luck for me. I didn't have to hand draw all those petals. I still sucked at the stenciling part though. It required a second coat and touch-ups.

It is done!!!! My bed was moved to the other wall. The branches go right over my bed and petals blow onto the adjacent wall, also above my bed. I am in love! I have other things to get done, like my bed and window treatments. But for now I am happy!

Looks so much better than those vinyl trees and I bet it was a lot less expensive as well! Well done!

Oh my goodness, this is beautiful! I can't imagine the work involved. You have the coolest bedroom around. :-) The best part is that it's one of a kind.

Your pic automatically caught my eye at RoCa and Co. This is beautiful. I was going to just pin up Christmas lights in a tree form on my son's wall but then I saw this. Too bad I can't hire you to paint it for me because I think if I paint it might look like a Jackson Pollock.
I'm a new follower. Would love it if you followed back.
