The Day Girls Go Mad! Eclipse is in Theaters

Eclipse is now out in theaters and tickets were all bought weeks ago. My sister and some close friends decided to wait a few days until all the screaming fans are gone. We enjoy the movie, just want to hear it, have a decent night sleep, and not have go to work the next morning. So we will be going on Friday. My boss and co-worker are good friends and they go crazy over Twilight. They will be going to the midnight premiere. My boss asked me to make her a t-shirt she could where that night. She is so Team Edward/ Rob Patterson.

Day 10 - A picture that you took at one time that you love. It's a picture of a mother at our daycare with her two baby girls. I love how it shows their love for each other.

Watercolors and Motion

With the county fair coming soon I have been doing some quick art work in other mediums to get more points towards the winner in the art division. Most of the time I have alot to choose from, but this year all my work was in the same materials. It gives me more experience with different materials, which is always good. I'm doing some pieces in watercolor.

Day 9 of the Photo Challenge is taking a picture that showcases motion. I use to love riding in the back seat, window down, with the night setting on my camera. I would get crazy lines of color that didn't exist.

Its Hard To Work When You Don't Have The Space

My current work place to create my art lately has been sitting in my recliner, supplies on the side table, and a pull up table to work on. Not the ideal work space. Lately it has been a confortable space, but not much space to work with.

With my mom and me both being crafters or artisans in some way we have always had a somewhat sewing room, which is more now a craft room. One half is the sewing supplies and the other is all other crafting and art supplies. A few months ago I organized the messiest parts of our house. Our craft room and garage always become unmanagable. Once I moved back home from my dorm and my mom starting a new sewing project (making scrubs to sale to the nurses she works with), our craft room became a mess once again. My mother is still able to work in there, but I can not.

Most of the mess is on my side of the room but it's not all mine. My mom doesn't put her stuff up and places on my side so then I'm less inclined to put mine up. So here is my desk where I should be working. Just a bit of a mess to clean up.

Now for the next day of the photo challenge. Day 08 - Post a picture from your commute. This was a hard one. I'm normally rushing to work and going straight home or the gym. Sometimes though I stop at my sisters house and will be there all night and never realize it. It is almost my second home. Today I took my nephew home from daycare to his house. This happens at least once a week since his daycare is where I work.

Sundays Can Be Really Productive

On this day of the photo challenge is Day 07 - Post a picture from a recent vacation. Last weekend was father's day and we took a mini vacation to different places. First we went to the Creation Museum that has a beautiful garden designed by one of my cousins. Also we went to the Hollywood casino and to Newport next to river for a comedy show. I have a few photos from the day, but these are my favorites.

Also after a while of doing things here and there, I finally returned to my major work in progress. It involves me pen and ink drawing, which I haven't done in awhile. It is nice to get back to it though. I hope to get this piece completely finished in the coming week.

Photo Challenge Day 6

I'm back on track now..... I hope. So here is the the next photo challenge.

Day 06 - A picture that inspires you

This is my sister's friend Eric. He's a pretty good photographer and crazy man. In a good way of course though. Obviously he's not taking the picture but he is holding the flash attachment and flashing the moment the picture is taken. It inspires me because it shows you can always make new creative ideas, all you have to do is think outside the box.

25 Things To Do Before I'm 25

I saw a to do list to complete before they were 25 on another blog. She had, I guessing, about a year to complete it. She turns 25 the end of this year. I'm only 21 and have 3-4 years to complete these 25 things. It would seem easy but most of these things either take alot of time, money, or both to complete them. So most are large goals that will take alot of work and effort.

1. Lose 70 ibs
2. Get my Associates in Early Childhood Development
3. Get my Bachelors in Art Education
4. Take a cruise to Greece and Italy
5. Get rid of stubborn acne
6. Get a job as an art teacher
7. Have my surgery done
8. Finish the mural at the Crayon Club Daycare
9. Go to Disney World again
10. Go to Universal Studios
11. Sale my artwork online
12. Sale my artwork at the Expo
13. Sale my artwork at the FCHS band sale
14. Completely finish decorating my room
15. Organize my house
16. Hold an office in my sorority Pi Beta Phi
17. Attend an national art educators conference
18. Attend a mixed media artist conference
19. Begin a family
20. Buy a Jeep Liberty
21. Run a 5K
22. Go to New York City

I'm a Slacker, Photo Challenge Catch-up

So I'm a great big slacker! Not really with life just with my blog. It took the back burner for a few days while my mind was else where. In the past week I have made several amount of changes in my life. It greatly affected my work and school for this coming fall though. The biggest thing is that I will be working full time for the next 6 months instead of part time between my college class schedule. Its fine with me though. I work at daycare and I love it so much. Art and children are the important things in my life. Right now we have a teacher who have degrees in education but she sucks as a teacher. She never does anything and complains about the job and the children. She teaches 3 year old children and I have always loved that room. I really want to be in there as the lead teacher so these kids can explore and develop instead of being bitched at basically. That lady wants a new job and is applying at other places and my thoughts on it is GREAT!!! Just hurry and get out of here so I can help these children flourish. So I've been doing some planning towards this change that I really hope that will come and letting my boss know how I think somewhat. I hope the change happens soon. Wish me luck!

Now on to the photo challenge. I have missed a few days so I will try and catch myself up.
Day 03 - A picture of your street
This was taken this past winter when we had a pretty good snow.

Day 04 - A picture of where you went today
Day 05 - A picture from your morning

These are some of my favorite babies.I was in these two rooms at my work today. Not that 3 year old room like I would, but these little ones are still a lot of fun just they get so messy. This is where I am almost everyday. These children fill me with so much joy and so much stress at times. I love them for it. I can't wait until the day when I have my own family.

Artist of the Week: Diane L. Wilson

Diane has a blog called Studio DLW where she shows her newest artwork and the prices of her work. There isn't much on there to describe her except that she is a 3D Postmodernism Expressionist. It is interesting how her work has life to it where it comes right off the canvas. Check it out yourself at http://studiodlw.wordpress.com/. Here is also few examples from her blog.

It's Almost Time for the County Fair

It is summer and signs are now popping up around town to advertise for the county fairs that will be coming soon. County fairs for me means a time I can enter my art work to make some extra cash. I do not really sale my work yet but I am trying to get to that point that I can by getting my name out there. My artwork being displayed at the fair helps a lot. They recognize me each year and wonder if I am coming back since I am such a big participant. Now I just need to decide what I will enter this year. Maybe by next year I could set up booths in the arts and crafts section at our summer expo that took place a week ago. But until then I will spend my time at our county fair.

The sections I can enter in is the adult section of the art division since I do not sell my work for profit.

How Strong is Your Imagination?

I decided to take a fun little quiz on Art Bistro, how strong is your imagination? Here is my results:

Your imagination is Pretty Healthy

What a great combination! While you’ve got a great imagination, you’ve also got a good head on your shoulders and a totally practical side. Resourceful and creative, you tend to be able to figure out the best way out of any situation on your own, no matter what comes at you. What can we say? You’re an expert at combining original inspirations with reasonable solutions. Congratulations!

Trip To Louisville

Yesterday my sister and I traveled to Louisville to gather some information for my sister's book. Let me back track for a minute though. My sister is working on her second book idea. The creativity in our family is a little different. My sister writes, I create art, and my mom does sewing and crafts. I personally love the idea and thought behind my sisters story and I know she can write because she was teaching me how to write since by the time I went to college I had no way to describe what I wanted to say in writing. Blogging is a bit different though.

My sister's book takes place in a big town nearby, Louisville, KY. My sister wanted to go to get a more visual picture of where everything was located and how to describe it. I went along for the ride. I took a few pictures, not as many as my sister though.

Beginning of a New Project

My Artist Blogger of the Week has encouraged me to show the process of new work. A lot of work I want to do this summer I wanted to be collage pieces that depict different emotions of my friends. My next one will be of my friend Rachel again. Tonight I tried a new collage background technique for this next technique. I am seeing how I like this because I think it would make a good background for a collage my sister has requested me to do. Below is the steps I took to make the background. Give me your opinion if you like it or not.

Now I am unsure on how I will do the next part of this picture. I have thoughts of completing it in pen and ink or charcoal and paste it on top of background. Here is the photo of my friend that I doing. Have any ideas?

Artist Blogger: Megan Eckman

Megan was a nice enough blogger to discover my blog and left a comment. It made me wonder who is this woman? Is she also a artist? Of course she is and she is really good. I am glad so commented on my blog so I could find her. I love illustration. I had a professor tell me once I should minor in illustration but I don't think I can draw well enough for that. Meaning I can't draw people. I can make collages of people just can't draw or paint them. Well anyways Megan blogs like most people what they love and what goes on in her life. What I love is her blogging of her thought process of her pieces. Its so interesting to see how an artist made those jumps into their final project. Here is an example of that on one of her recent pieces she posted "Imogene Coming Home."

The thought process for Megan began after she read the book "Imogene's Antlers." She shows inspiration is always around us we just have to capture it. Please check Megan Eckman's blog out at http://studiomme.blogspot.com/ . It will be a blog I will visit often.

Hunger Games and Catching Fire

Around the time I was on my vacation and when I got home, I began these two books that my sister said I had to read. She has been telling me forever that I need to read them. I'm glad I finally did. I read both books in two days each. They are filled action packed from front to beginning. The storyline kinda burrows down into your soul. So many times I would be working on artwork and I would subconsciously catch myself thinking about it. Sometimes my dreams are filled around the world and storyline of the stories. Obviously I loved the books. I could gab about them all night but I'm afraid to share too much for you. So I will just share the summary from Scholastic books.

Twenty-four are forced to enter. Only the winner survives.

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Each year, the districts are forced by the Capitol to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the Hunger Games, a brutal and terrifying fight to the death – televised for all of Panem to see.

Survival is second nature for sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who struggles to feed her mother and younger sister by secretly hunting and gathering beyond the fences of District 12. When Katniss steps in to take the place of her sister in the Hunger Games, she knows it may be her death sentence. If she is to survive, she must weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

Both books are based off these Hunger Games. The last installment of this series is Mockingjay. It will be released on 8-24-10. Just a few months away. I am excited to read it. So many things I want to find out.

My sister is an avid reader, blogger, and writer. She also has blogs about these books and I encourage you to check them out at http://blameitonthefullmoon.blogspot.com/2010/01/oh-so-addictive-hunger-games.html.

They are written by Suzanne Collins. Her biography is very impressive and found at http://www.suzannecollinsbooks.com/bio.htm.

The Beginning of My Summer Collage Series

I love collages. I find it almost relaxing to do. I know some of my friends do not have the patience for them. One project we did back in high school that was my favorite, my classmates wanted to kill themselves because of it. I haven't done many collages in a long time and I decided to go back to my roots this summer and really work on strengthing my skills and doing what I love.

The series I wanted to be of my friends displaying emotions. One of my best friends Rachel is my first model. She is such a happy goofy person and loves yellow. I wanted to do something bright and happy. I am really happy to see how it has turned out and can't wait to be doing this the rest of the summer.

This is the photo I took that I used as a reference

Sculpture Survey I

The one studio class I took this past semester was sculpture survey. I like mixed media sculpture and I thought we would get to do that. Not even close. I didnt exactly enjoy the class, but I did learn a few things. All we got to work with was clay, plaster, and limestone. I'm not exactly happy with the works. It was my first times using these techniques and materials. Everytime you take classes you can learn a thing or two that could help with your genre of artwork. It also makes you smarter about the other types of work out there too. One day I will be an art teacher. All my students will not like the same type of artwork and some maybe more interested in this kind of sculpture. So it is my job to teach them the best way I can about what they like. So here is to the learning process.

Artist of the Week : Matt Manley

I don't have much to saw about this artist except that his work caught my eye awhile ago and I saved his website so I could revisit it. Now when thinking who will I write about this week I decided to revisit him. I still don't have much to say because he hasn't written too much about himself on his website either. His work is illustration with several steps. All I can think when I look at his work that all these human figures and body parts shown they way he does creates a deeper meaning. Below is a explanation of his work and examples. You can find more of his work at http://www.mattmanley.com/index.html.
